Inspired by Maeve B's 'Blade of the Astral Gardener' (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8lVYNO) I really wanted to create a game weapon with a similar silhouette to their design. I thought it's shape would lend well to a duel set of yin and yang styled daggers.
I modeled the daggers in Maya trying to keep in mind I wanted these to be game quality so I stuck to a more low to mid poly approach. I understand most engines can handle much higher poly counts these days but I still like to see how low I can make things while still keeping them looking good. Once everything was finished I could definitely see some areas where I should have added some more edges.
After the models where complete I sculpted the high poly normals in Zbrush and baked them in Marmoset. Texturing was done in Substance Painter with the final renders created in Marmoset.
